We link to services that help with the things that have to get sorted in the first few months: credit building, car insurance, and guides for starting an online business. Some of those companies pay us a commission when someone signs up through our link. That commission is how we keep the free tier free.
What that means for you
It never costs you more. The price is the same as going to them directly.
We are not their salesperson. We do not work for them, and they have no say in what the app tells you to do.
You are never required to use any of them. Every link is optional. The checklist works the same whether you click one or not.
A commission is not an endorsement. Read the terms before you sign up for anything financial.
If you would rather not use a link that pays us, go to the company directly. We will not treat your account differently either way.
Why this instead of ads
We promised no ads and we mean it. There are no banners in this app, no pop-ups, nothing follows you around the internet, and nobody pays us to put a message in front of you. The job board is never sold. No employer can pay to appear in it, and no employer pays us for a click, an application, or a hire. What you see there is what we think will actually consider you.
Affiliate links differ from advertising in a way that matters: an advertiser pays to be seen by you. We are only paid if you decide, on your own, to use a service. We choose which companies to list, on whether they will work for someone with a record. They do not buy their way in, and paying us more does not move anyone up the list.
We are still telling you plainly, because you deserve to know when money is involved.
What we are not
We are not a financial advisor, credit counselor, or insurance agent. Nothing here is financial, legal, or insurance advice.
We do not repair credit and we are not a credit repair organization.
We do not guarantee approval, rates, terms, or outcomes with any company.
We do not receive or store your application. Once you follow a link you are on their site, under their terms and their privacy policy.
Be careful with credit repair. People coming home are a common target for predatory credit repair operations. Under federal law, a credit repair organization generally may not charge you before it has actually performed services. If anyone asks for money up front to fix your credit, treat that as a warning sign.
What is shared when you follow a link
Clicking an affiliate link may pass a referral identifier telling that company the visit came from Free and Forward, so they can pay the commission.
We do not send them your name, email, account information, checklist, resume, conviction history, or anything else from your account. Once you are on their site, their privacy policy governs, not ours.
Tell us if something is wrong
If a company we list treats you badly, email privacy@freeandforward.com. We will look into it and remove them if it is warranted. That is a commitment we intend to keep.
