Reentry Partner Grant
The first 90 days after release matter most. You already know that, because your team is there for them. This grant backs one organization doing that work, and gives every applicant tools to help their clients stay on track long after.
Applications are open now. Deadline: December 15, 2026.
The grant
Free and Forward is a reentry app for iPhone and Android, free to start. It gives people coming home a Checklist for what to do next, a Calendar for check-ins, court dates, and appointments, and a Document Vault to keep their papers in one place.
The Reentry Partner Grant is our way of supporting the organizations that do this work face to face.
To one US nonprofit doing prison reentry work.
Win or not: our bilingual (English and Spanish) QR code flyer and a short blurb your staff can share with clients.
Free and Forward is a for-profit company. This grant is how we put real money behind nonprofit reentry work.
For the winner
For your reentry work.
People reach out to Free and Forward all the time asking how they can help, and we always point them to a nonprofit. The winner becomes the organization we send them to.
On LinkedIn, Facebook, and freeandforward.com, with your permission.

Want to do more? (Encouraged, not required.) Post our bilingual (English and Spanish) QR code flyer in your space and mention the app to clients when it fits. It's free for them to start.

The fine print
1. Sponsor. The Free and Forward Reentry Partner Grant (the "Grant") is sponsored by Free and Forward LLC, 89 Moody Rd, Enfield, CT 06082 ("Free and Forward" or "Sponsor").
2. No purchase necessary. No purchase or payment of any kind is required to apply or to win. A purchase will not improve an applicant's chances.
3. Eligibility. Open to nonprofit organizations based in the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia that (a) are recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or are an equivalent nonprofit organization, such as a religious organization not required to file for recognition, or a project fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3); and (b) provide services to people returning from incarceration. Individuals, for-profit businesses, and political organizations are not eligible. Organizations owned by, or affiliated with, Sponsor, and organizations whose officers are Sponsor's employees or immediate family members, are not eligible.
4. Application period. Applications are accepted from the date this page is posted in October 2026 until December 15, 2026, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
5. How to apply. Submit the online application at https://www.freeandforward.com/grant#apply. Limit one (1) application per organization. If more than one application is received from the same organization, only the first complete application will be considered.
6. No participation requirement. Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to share Sponsor's bilingual (English and Spanish) QR code flyer with clients. Sharing or not sharing the flyer is not a selection factor, and no purchase, promotion or referral is required to apply or win. Applicants that receive free premium codes are under no obligation to use or promote them.
7. Selection. This is a merit-based selection, not a game of chance. Sponsor's team will review all eligible applications and choose one (1) winner based on: (a) mission, meaning how directly the organization supports people in reentry; (b) reach, meaning the number of people served; and (c) how the organization plans to use the $1,000. Whether an organization shares our flyer or uses Free and Forward is not a factor. Sponsor's decisions are final.
8. Grant. One (1) grant of $1,000 USD, paid to the winning organization by check or electronic transfer. Total grant value: $1,000. The grant is not transferable and may not be exchanged. The winner must use the grant for its charitable reentry work. In addition, Sponsor will refer people who contact Sponsor asking how they can help to the winning organization. Sponsor does not guarantee any number of referrals, and referrals have no cash value.
9. Verification. Before the grant is paid, the potential winner must confirm eligibility, which may include providing its EIN, proof of nonprofit status (such as an IRS determination letter or fiscal sponsorship agreement), and a completed W-9. If the potential winner does not respond within fourteen (14) days of notification, or is found ineligible, Sponsor may select an alternate winner.
10. Announcement and publicity. The winner will be notified directly and announced in January 2027. With the winner's permission, Sponsor will announce the winner by name on LinkedIn, Facebook, and freeandforward.com. Sponsor will not publish an organization's name or logo without its permission.
11. Right not to award. Sponsor reserves the right not to award the Grant if it receives too few eligible applications, and to change, suspend, or cancel the Grant if fraud, technical problems, or other circumstances beyond its control affect the program.
12. Privacy. Application information will be used to run the Grant and to send the partner kit. Sponsor will not sell application information. See https://www.freeandforward.com/privacy-policy.
13. General. By applying, organizations agree to these Official Rules. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected applications. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut.
14. Winner's name. For the name of the winning organization (available after January 31, 2027), email adam@freeandforward.com.
